Looking through some of my old travel pics lately I realized just how many different places have appeared, in one way or another, in my novel. I took Pembroke Castle, Wales, and beefed it up to the stature of Rochester Castle, England. I found Tudor buildings from the 16th century (in which half my novel is set), and painted them up like the gorgeous townhouses in Brugge, Belgium and Prague, Czech Republic. And since I’ve never been to a medieval Welsh market, I combined memories of the Erasmus Knights tournament I saw in Slovenia with the sights, sounds and smells of the Medina in Marrakesh, Morocco, instead.

Yep, turns out almost everything came from somewhere else – even the garden shed! (Transylvania, to be exact. That’s the castle of Vlad Dracul, aka. Dracula, in the background).

What souvenirs have you brought back for your novel?

Dracula’s potting shed, Romania.           Model of Rochester castle, England.

Marrakesh, Morocco.                             Prague, Czech Republic.

P.S. This is a new blog. Anything you could do to spread the word would be much appreciated. Thanks!

And don’t mind this, I’m just experimenting and will probably forget to remove these images. 😀
